Swainsona formosa, better known as Sturt's Desert Pea, grows naturally in all Australian Mainland states except for Victoria. A hardy ground cover that survives in semi-arid landscapes, going largely unseen until in Spring following good rains burst into flower. With masses of vibrant red flowers covering the ground.
Swainsona formosa regularly found beside roads where the rain run-off provides additional moisture in the soil.
